Directions: Driving from KL, exit the Federal Highway into Sunway and it's about 1 km down this road and across (so you need to U turn I think -- need to confirm later)

The event will be launched at around 11.30am and will end at around 5.30pm with the prize giving ceremony. The exciting sessions would be after 2pm when the finalists are showing their skills.

For both the Pudu Market and PJ Drift Challenge outings, you may submit 3 images each for the monthly challenge. So together with the 3 images for the Dragon Boat Festival outings, you may submit up to 9 images.

Wesak Day

Theme: Scenes around the Dong Zen Buddhist temple during Wesak.
Try to interpret the idea of Wesak in more creative ways than the straight forward pictures such in previous years showing people praying, lighting candles and incense, or pouring oil etc.

Additional outing: 6pm on 8 May 2009. Same location. There will be a lighted float parade. Images shot during this evening will not be eligible for the monthly contest. You can showcase these pictures for C&C.

Kite Flying
4.30pm, Sunday 24 May 2009.
Taman Metropolitan Kepong (refer to maps below)

Direction
From KL, head north along Jalan Ipoh and turn right at the roundabout (9 o'clock) into the MRR2. Proceed 2.5km to park entrance on the left. Typically, on Saturday afternoons, there will be lots of cars parked along the road so you can't miss it.

Meeting Place: 4.30pm at the main entrance to the park ( http://tinyurl.com/rcjqwg ). We'll have a group photo here, near the circular fountain, the one with the dolphins. Note that there's another entrance about 1.5lm further down the main road as well but this is NOT where we'll be have our group photo.

Theme: Kite flying.
There are a lot of activities at the park but since the big attraction and somewhat unique is the kite flying there, the images are expected to show or highlight that activity in some manner where the kites are involved including people and action with the kites. However, this may also include pictures of kites even when they're not flying.

Monthly Meeting: May 2009 (completed)

Our monthly meeting for May which will be as follows:

NOTE: We will NOT be conducting our Annual General Meeting (AGM) as previously announced due to unavoidable circumstances. The AGM will now be postponed to June (Sat. 6 June tentatively). We will clarify the situation with members during the May monthly meeting.

AGENDA

1. Monthly Contest
For the monthly contest, please submit 3 best shots each in 2 categories (total 6 shots) for the two outings in April, to Zoo Negara and Bagan Lalang. The submission of the pictures for our photo contests shall be on the following themes:

* Zoo Negara outing: Animals
The pictures must include the animals as the subject. This may include some human interaction with the animals (e.g. feeding the animals) but the animals must be the dominant subject.

* Bagan Lalang outing: Scenes around Pantai Bagan Lalang
Since there was no Selangor Water Festival, the pictures will be of scenes around the entire beach area, including people and activities around the area and also including the Sepang Gold Coast.

2. Slideshow
We will be having a slideshow of a trip to Bandung and Jakarta last month by several PSPJ members.

3. Photo clinic
We will have a photo clinic where we open up to members for commentary on images (for those wanting some feedback on their images please submit them on a thumbdrive) and also answer to queries and discussion on camera equipment.

4. Tutorial session
We will be showing a DVD by Bryan Peterson ( http://www.bryanfpeterson.com ) on photography.

Annual General Meeting
We would like inform you regarding the AGM in June.

The committee to be elected will consist of:

* 6 ordinary Committee members

The office bearers and officials of the Society shall be Malaysian citizens only (according to the Constitution)..

We are in need of members who can contribute to the club. Please contact me if can do so, either by becoming a committee member to be elected during the AGM (which is what we are short of) or to volunteer from time to time.
New members are welcome to join the committee since there is no requirement to be an experienced photographer to become a committee member.

Photo outing 2 (completed)

Location: Selangor Water Festival, Pantai Bagan Lalang, Sepang

Meeting Place: At the Nilai toll (just after you exit the toll gates) at 8am. This is the toll after exiting the North South Highway from KL heading south.
If you are think you're going to be late please inform me (SMS to 012-282 5317) so we can wait for you at the toll.
Alternatively, you can go straight to Pantai Bagan Lalang itself but do call as well since we want you to be in the group photo at Pantai Bagan Lalang before we begin.

Theme: Scenes around the water festival activities

The Selangor Water Festival is from 24 to 26 April 2009.

Monthly Meeting: April 2009

Our monthly meeting for April will be tomorrow at 3pm on Saturday 4 April 2009 at the Kuala Lumpur International Hotel (for directions, please refer to the end of this message)

Sorry for the short notice since some of you may have heard that we were planning to hold the meeting later in the month, either 18 or 25 April together with our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Unfortunately, due to unavoidable circumstances, we are postponing our AGM to May to coincide with our May monthly meeting and therefore we have reverted to holding our April monthly meeting to our customary first Saturday of the month, which is tomorrow.

Once again, apologies for the short notice but hope you will all be able to make it especially our new members who signed up at the DCIM Show last weekend. During the meeting we will be announcing details of the outings for April.
